Watershed
is a counselling service in Devon, providing counselling, mentoring, professional support,
and
professional practice supervision, working within the Ethical Framework of the BACP.
Therapy Law
is a Consultancy service
to help practitioners experiencing ethical and legal dilemmas
in the counselling and other helping professions. Therapy Law also provides online CPD workshops
at affordable prices for practitioners.

Qualifications and experience:
Barbara holds dual qualifications in therapy and law, and has now retired from legal practice. Following a degree in law and qualification in 1975 as a solicitor, in 1999 she became a Law Society Recognised (All Issues) Family Mediator.
Following a Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy, and qualification in Counselling Supervision, she became a BACP Registered Practitioner (Snr Accred.). Her subsequent PhD. research explored the relationship of trauma, conflict and therapy, focussing on practice experience of post war trauma therapy in the Balkans. Barbara was awarded a Fellowship of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) in 2006.
Barbara has written widely and contributed to many books, journals and online resources for practitioners on topics including therapy issues, ethics and the law, ethics, post-traumatic stress, and supporting vulnerable witnesses - see the Publications page

Counselling and psychotherapy experience over thirty years includes:
* NHS GP surgery, University counselling service, Emergency services staff support, EAPs and Private practice.
* International work for the Red Cross, the Red Crescent, Save the Children, UNICEF and other agencies.
* Research includes the relationship of traumatic stress and conflict in the context of post-war peace-building.
Legal experience over thirty years includes work in private practice, for local authorities and
governments :
* Crime and Civil rights
* Family law, child protection and safeguarding vulnerable children and adults
* Mediations
